WRITING PROMPT NO. 275
Here at A Picture, A Story it’s pretty simple. I upload a photo every day and every day I use that photo as a prompt for story writing. You can too. The picture may inspire a memory, a list, a doodle or something fictional.
Sometimes words come to my mind straight away. Sometimes I need to close my eyes for a minute or two to find what’s there. Then I write. For ten minutes. Or until I’ve filled a page in my notebook, whichever comes first. The most important thing I’ve learnt is to keep pen to paper - oh yes that’s crucial too - writing by hand. I try not to worry about dazzling prose or perfect grammar, but I may correct the odd spelling mistake. This is all about developing a daily writing habit, allowing ideas to flow and trying to eliminate the fear of the blank page. For my own accountability, I upload my efforts the following day.
